French Ports Poised to Benefit from Strong Cereals Export Campaign in 2025/26

Publish Date:
France, one of Western Europe’s largest cereal producers, has exported nearly 9.9 million tonnes of grain in the opening months of its 2025/26 campaign, marking it as one of the best cereals export seasons in the last decade so far. Key French ports like La Rochelle, Dunkirk, and Rouen are seeing significant grain export activity and benefit from this strong campaign.

1. Strong Export Performance

In the first four months of the 2025/26 cereals campaign (beginning July), France exported around 9.9 Mt (million tonnes) of grains, making this year’s performance the third highest in the past 10 years according to government agency FranceAgriMer.

2. Key Ports Leading the Growth

Several French ports are benefiting directly from this robust campaign:
Port of La Rochelle has seen grain traffic up significantly, highlighting increased handling capacity and demand.
Port of Rouen and Port of Dunkirk remain crucial hubs for moving French cereals to international markets efficiently.

3. Broader Trade Impact

This improved cereals campaign not only supports France’s agricultural export sector but also strengthens the position of its maritime and logistics infrastructure in the European bulk commodities trade.
