LKAB commissions new shiploader in Narvik
Background & Purpose
- The original shiploader (U5) at Narvik was put into service in 1977. Over nearly five decades of operation, it reached the end of its technical lifespan.
- Given the strategic importance of Narvik’s port an ice-free, deepwater facility used to export iron ore products LKAB decided to replace the aging loader with a modern facility to ensure long-term, efficient, and sustainable operations.
