Sanmar has taken a bold step by building tugs that can operate on methanol as well as conventional fuel. These vessels serve KOTUG Canada, supporting the Trans Mountain Expansion Project (TMEP) in escort and towage roles.
Sanmar has officially handed over one of its best-selling Boğaçay Class tugs to a Bulgarian maritime operator, Port Flot Burgas.
The tug was originally constructed under the name BOĞAÇAY LXXXI in Türkiye, and upon delivery, it was renamed MARS by the new owner.
Sanmar has introduced the Boğaçay LXXIX, a high-performance tugboat engineered for Ultratug Mexico. The vessel, built under the RAmparts 2400SX-MKII design by Robert Allan Ltd., is tailored for operations at Lázaro Cárdenas Port on Mexico’s Pacific Coast. Equipped with dual IMO Tier III CAT 3516E engines delivering 2,200 kW each, it produces a remarkable 75-ton astern bollard pull and 12.5 knots free-running speed.
