Dutch Expand Emission-Free Inland Shipping with Swappable Battery Packs

  • Zero Emission Services (ZES), in collaboration with Nefcargo and Inland Terminals Group, has introduced the ZES 2.0 service for battery-electric inland cargo shipping.
  • New swappable battery containers (called Zespacks) will operate from terminals in Alphen aan den Rijn, Alblasserdam, and Den Bosch, with plans to expand to Rotterdam, Moerdijk, and Nijmegen.

Yang Ming Marine Transport Corporation has announced the order of ammonia-ready container vessels as part of its fleet expansion strategy.
The vessels will feature dual-fuel LNG-ready technology, making them adaptable for future green fuels such as ammonia.
This step reflects Taiwan’s ambition to accelerate decarbonization in shipping while maintaining competitive operations in global trade.
The contract underscores the industry’s ongoing shift toward environmentally friendly solutions and the adoption of innovative fuel technologies.
